Looking Far Ahead

As I look ahead

Far into the distance,

Not really looking anywhere.

You asked me a question,

And a memory strikes me,

I am in pieces,

Finding the best words to describe for me.

But as I am searching,

As I look ahead

Far into the distance,

Not really looking anywhere.

For I have stopped in time,

Wondering how to put across,

With words I can’t seem to find…

Oh no, I am not agitated,

I am perfectly still,

Like a painting on a wall,

Beautiful, describing and yet frozen still.

It isn’t that I am evading,

Or that it is hard to speak,

I am just taking time,

Breathing it in.

And I am lost,

Lost dwelling,

Forgotten to reply,

Bargaining with reality,

Even if just for a while…
