Runaway

But when to fight and when to let go,
Down is the only direction I seem to go

Each night I prayed to an invisible soul,
To give me wings and help me escape,
Bored and hurt from the place where I stayed,
Running away was all I asked for each day

And then wheels turned and I was packing bags,
New place, new dreams, new connections hoping these would last,
I chose to be different fearing old heartaches might come back,
But little did I know, new mistakes would be worse than my last

Fighting and letting go, combination of both,
Thinking this would be the key I need for my soul,
But when to fight and when to let go,
Down is the only direction I seem to go

Lately I am realizing it wasn’t the place I needed to escape,
All this while I was praying incorrectly, now my train has derailed,
Walking, running, flying not from people or place,
I only need to runaway from myself today
