Postmortem

Postmortem is conducted

And reality comes to light

There lay facts
In plain sight
Yet overlooked
By our busy eyes

***

Only once an act is done
And result is in display
We stop to critique and
Then we go on our way

***

Postmortem is conducted
And reality comes to light
We wonder about what ifs
Say sorry once in awhile

***

But you see, damage is done
And postmortem is after it’s dead
The recipient received the blow
And no guilt can mend its affairs

***

Once in awhile it does count
To stop and think things through
Maybe before the grim appears
We have the power to change its view
