Summer Night’s Dream

There was no rush, no count down till the essentials beckoned,
There was only us, nothing else seemed to matter,
You made a silent promise to make my fears disappear,
Just the touch of your hand and I knew it was real.

A feeling of completeness,
A sense of mischievousness,
A touch of childishness,
In the middle of deep conversations.
We touched each other’s hearts,
Made the other feel set apart,
Looked into soulful eyes,
While we danced and laughed.
You told me the things you kept dear, all the things you feared,
I unfolded before you like there were no walls around my heart to interfere,
We had each other’s keys close to our hearts,
Lying down on the grass, looking at the stars.
There was no rush, no count down till the essentials beckoned,
There was only us, nothing else seemed to matter,
You made a silent promise to make my fears disappear,
Just the touch of your hand and I knew it was real.
No reason to suspect, no reason to cry,
No past hurt and regrets could make me hide,
My running away had found its end,
I could now face my demons and be content.
Found my courage, I found my strength,
Found the long lost self confidence,
Found my way to smile from remembrance,
There was no turning back, no need to question or ask.
We fitted like a jigsaw puzzle,
It was just too good to be real!
I pinched myself, and closed my eyes,
I felt the pain and invariably smiled,
But.. alas… I opened my eyes,
Found my room ceiling staring me in the eyes,
I knew I had dreamed of you in my sleep,
You were only my summer night’s dream.

As the title, this poem came to me in my sleep. I guess I am watching too many feel-good romantic movies 😛 ( Oops)
