Cover Me

The stars are starting to come up,
As the sun begins to set,
The moon and clouds, their hide and seek,
Makes me remember our texts.

The stars are starting to come up,
As the sun begins to set,
The moon and clouds, their hide and seek,
Makes me remember our texts.
The wind brushes on my cheek,
And my cheek begins to become red,
I remember when you said you like me,
And that is how I felt.

The way I am holding my sweater close to me,
The way I am looking for the heat within,
I remember the day you said you’d hold me,
And my skin radiates and glows like fireflies instead.

I found my strength, borrowing some of your warmth, and I,
I wanted to hold on , hold on to the dreams of togetherness,
But dreams disappear when my eyes open each day,
And I am left lonelier than what I was yesterday.

Every morning, I let my worries fly away,
And share as if nothing was at stake,
But understanding can come even in absolute silence,
And if it isn’t meant to be, it won’t reach with words of explanations.

I looked up to you,
But you felt far away,
I stretched my hand to hold you,
But you had gone away.

The distance that begins to create between us,
My speed can’t seem to overcome it,
I am tired, I can’t run anymore,
So I let the coldness cover me.

Some things are just not meant to stay. Holding and letting go’s are part of life. I wrote this poem thinking on these lines. I wrote with a little bit of truth and for the rest, I let my imagination take control.
